HYDRAULIC POWERED BICYCLE FOR SMOOTH EASY RIDE

PROGRESSION FROM THE 14TH CENTURY WOODEN PUSH BIKE  TO  THE TRENDY HYDRAULIC BICYCLE/VELOCIPEDE

Our 14th century push bike has progressed very slowly to the chain drive mechanical push pedal bicycle the fore runner of velocipede & now has come to a dead stop. 

THE TECHNICAL ANGLE

An inquisitive mind is never content with the status quo. It is always looking for newer & advanced systems. If they are nor discovered or found anywhere, then this mind will invent them on his own. The mechanical aspect of the push pedal bicycle is not very alluring to me personally. The greasy chain, fully exposed sprocket & free wheels are invitations to stained pants, shredded pajamas, & messy hands when slightly loose chain slips off the mildly wobbly sprocket wheels. The mechanical advantage provided by this system is minimal too. If you want to keep moving ahead, you have to pedal hard & continuously, no question of any respite unless it is down hill. On top of all this you have to stop at a cycle repair shop to top up the Tyre pressure every ten days or so. This is a must, or else you will be putting in double the effort to move ahead on account of low pressure in your Tyres. The charm of owning & riding a push pedal bicycle is not as great as it seemed in the first place.

MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE ANGLE 

To lift heavy loads with a rope & pulley arrangement, you get huge mechanical advantage. At a certain point, two sets of six pulley arrangement will allow you to lift 100 kg with just 1 kg of effort. The load moves up but the 1 kg effort has to move large linear distances to achieve this objective. In our bicycle case the requirement is slightly different. We want to travel large linear distances at high speed with very little effort.  With this objective in mind the author has come up with a hydraulic solution to the mechanical problem.

THE PRE-CHARGED ANGLE

It is now proposed to pedal & pump up hydraulic oil from an oil chamber into another high pressure chamber, even a series of chambers, with the help of a crank shaft and piston arrangement. The rotary motion of the pedals / crank shaft gets converted into linear motion of the piston. On the IN stroke the oil is sucked in, & on the OUT stroke the oil is pushed into the high pressure chambers. The movable wall in the high pressure chamber pushes down a long helical spring, thus storing up energy for future use.  This exercise of charging up the power pack can be done at home, any time of the day, independent of the travel activity. To operate & ride the bicycle  for errands, all you need to do is to open up the throttle & move ahead.  The high pressure oil jet is forced out of a specially designed nozzle / venturi opening when you hit the throttle. This oil jet hits the blades of mini turbine & turns it at high speed. The splashing oil drips down into the oil chamber for collection & recycling. The high speed turbine is hooked on to a variable gear-less transmission which powers up the rear wheel of our HYDRAULIC BICYCLE. It is a new paradigm of moving ahead in life with a pre-charged power pack.

THE HISTORY ANGLE  

The ancient man had already invented the mighty WHEEL. Now he wanted to use his invention for moving  in comfort & faster. He put two wheels together and joined them with a cross member.  This was the crude version of the bicycle. He seated himself on the cross member & pushed himself forward with his feet. It was very thrilling at that time. Then came the problem of maneuvering the damned wooden horse, which he solved by articulating the single cross member into two parts. Now he could turn one of  his  wheels left, right as desired. Of course a crude lever was nailed, to facilitate this function.  Step by step he modified & improved his contraption till he finally came up with a giant wheel in front &  a small wheel at the rear. He mounted himself over the big wheel and pedaled ahead in comfort but not very fast. Many more improvements had to take place before the commercial model would be ready as we see it today.

THE DOMESTIC ANGLE

My father was the eldest of the seven siblings & my mother was also the eldest of the five siblings in their families. In our little family we were four siblings, 3 boys & 1 girl in the ages from 8 to 14 years. We lived in a small town of Ambala Cantt, India. Bicycles shops dotted all over the military cum air base town. They sold many brands of new ones & refurbished ones too. Our parents decided that it was high time get us a big toy, so that running errands would become easier & faster for us, as children to help around the home. Lo & behold a refurbished ladies full size bicycle was acquired by our doctor dad from a nearby cycle shop, who promised lifetime repairs free of charge. A ladies bicycle is easier to manipulate, especially by small children trying to learn to ride the contraption. One could get on to the bike & pedal  without sitting on the saddle, the scissors version of riding it. As tireless children we never gave up. We kept on trying,  trying, failing & falling. On fine day one of us would balance for a long length of time & cover large distance without falling. Gradually all four of us got the knack of turning the handle towards the tilting side & thus straighten up the bike immediately. Short little kids trying to tame a full size monster was no small a task. After a full one month we all could sit on the saddle seat & kick the pedal as it came up. We additionally mastered the art of slipping out of the seat when the bike came to a dead halt without tipping over. Slowly we gained confidence to venture out into the real traffic on the roads & busy markets. Now the errands had a new meaning & became more enjoyable. The obvious question to our mother would be: do I go on foot or take the bike. It will be much quicker if you let me go on the bike, Mom. OK but be careful. Yes Mom, I will be.

THE LUCKY ANGLE

I still remember this incident very vividly.  It was a talk of the whole neighborhood. One morning my mother asked me to mail a letter, registered post with acknowledge due, for her. It was promptly done, of course I used the bicycle to travel such a short distance of 250 meters. The lady bicycle was parked outside the main post office, unlocked. After the mailing job, I conveniently walked home out of old habit totally unaware of the parked bicycle. All day went bye, no one in the house noticed the absence of the bike. Next day my younger brother noticed the missing bicycle in the house & raised the alarm. Everyone assembled in the courtyard to solve the mystery of the missing bicycle. Who used it last? I had fully forgotten about the post office errand. Then it dawned on my mother that I had taken it to the mail the letter. Yes I had. Then I ran  at full speed to see & hoped that the bicycle was still there. To my wonderful surprise it was still standing hiding among the next days fresh crowd of other bicycles. I happily picked up my long lost, now found lady bicycle  & brought it home to everyone's raised eyebrows & smiles. I was already famous for my out standing absent mindedness & this was another feather in my cap.

ETERNITY & LAWS OF VIBRATIONS.

The Creator and HIS Creation are based on the laws of VIBRATIONS within an noncomprehending entity called ETERNITY. To elucidate this term we will borrow a word to which we all can relate to easily & understand it. The single word is TIME. Eternity is frozen time where emptiness is still and silent. Paradoxically, time is Eternity in slow motion.

It all started with a BLACK HOLE and the very first SOUND VIBRATION uttered by Eternity. They termed it as BIG BANG but in reality it is a very auspicious sound with a deep meaning. It is called AUM or OOMMM. It is technically pronounced as OOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM to replicate the original Mantra given to us by the benevolent Universe.
This sound still resonates in the Universe with a frequency of 7.54 cycles per second. It is so Divine that all of this Universe was created out of it & by it. This energy of PRANA IS EFFULGENT EVOLVING & ENDLESS.

When your two year old toddler utters his very first word MA, then you do not call it THE BIG BANG. Technically when vibrations are forced out through an aperture, sound is created. Just like you form your lips into a modified aperture before you begin to whistle.

THE PROGRESSION OF THE COSMIC MELODY.
 
The Cosmic aperture provided to us is termed as BLACK HOLE. These very first sound waves coming out of the Black hole stirred up the Cosmic SPACE in the empty Eternity. This Space extends into Infinity just like Eternity itself. Now that we had Space it was required to be filled up, otherwise it would shrink back to emptiness.

Sequentially the vibrations of Space gave rise to the production of AIR WAVES. The frictional movement of Air currents and their forceful vibrations caused another element of FIRE to be created. This powerful element has the properties to heat up and light up the atmosphere around it.
The potent vibrations of Fire became responsible for for the production of ETHER which is also called OMNI CONSCIOUSNESS. It is the pulse of the universe. Individual Souls are a fragment of this Consciousness.

Ether has the capability to expand and contract. These vibrations facilitated the formation of crystallized WATER, the very first solid entity called matter now. Paradoxically solids like water vibrate too but at such low frequencies that they appear to be motionless. This all powerful life sustaining material evolved further into EARTH with even lower vibrations.

The magnificent biodiversity on our plant is the result of all of the above entities interacting together. It is perishable but ever renewing. This is the story of OM and its progression into various other significant elements appearing out of nowhere & manifesting into solid objects, like articles coming out of the MAGICIANS HAT.

One Existence passing through a grid network changes into other forms.
Through Time it becomes Intelligence, Through Space it changes to fine matter, Through Causation if turns into Gross matter. It is the THREAD that runs through all the PEARLS. We are HIS Xerox copy in miniature incarnations, mini souls, energy packets, that are self evident. We as ATMA are microscopic and equally powerful like the friendly Atom

HIS signatures are everywhere, hence all can find HIM.  His Grace is reserved for effort makers only. It is always there, just spread your wings to fly high or raise your sails to move ahead. Just be your self & belong to HIM, befriend Him. Uplift yourself through Remembrance of HIM, constant, total & full faith. Keep Him in the back ground conduct yourself in life & work. USING THE ALCHEMY OF TRUTH TO ELEVATE SELF.

Renunciate all senses, pleasures & be aware of the greed of LUST & mental TRESPASSES. Always discriminate between the body & Soul, matter & Spirit. Sex drive is natures ploy. Keep count of the ounce of pleasure you derive from gross matter. Discard all things that bring weakness in Mind, Body, & Spirit, excessive merriment, Astrology, mysterious mambo jumbo, black magic, Occult rituals, fair faces, false hearts, & glorious skin shopping. Weakness leads to tears, misery, ignorance, sin, strain, bondage, desires, inequality & death. Beware of howling righteousness on surface & utter hollowness beneath.

FROM FEARFUL TO FEARLESS. 
 
Fear is your biggest enemy, over come it first. It is a virus of superstitions which makes you Zero. Wrong life styles, woes, blaming, grumbling, complaining, & then tumbling down into EVIL, negativity, sin, hell. You are completely body conscious & now you have to break away the chains of identifications, attachments, doubts, past history, feelings of separateness, & sorrow. Claim your freedom, liberty for self & others. Freewill doing, no repenting, no brooding. Liberty means not affected by nothing, neither seek nor avoid.

BUILDING UP STRENGTH.
 
All powers are within the Soul. Apply the knowledge and imbibe it. Build up vigor, vitality, health, power, economy of working. Then you will be calm, energetic, unselfish, growing strong. Top most is Will power, which is omnipotent.

POWER OF IMMUNITY.
 
Immunity is the balancing force for entropy. Entropy is the nature of things to break down. Thousands of microbes are kept at bay in our body with the help of immunity alone, yet we often visit the hospitals for treatment. Similarly the power of an immune Mind keeps thousands of microbes of negative emotions & misery in check. We are immune to evil, anger, entanglements, yet we succumb to most of them. Handle people with care & responsibility, which translates to ABILITY TO RESPOND to them.

POWER TO DISCERN.
 
Truth is far from comfortable. It is the very nature of the Soul. We have the power & intelligence to discern love from lust, diamonds from glass beads, the invisible from visible. Look for the infinite in the finite Soul. After realizing the truth, speak the truth & be honest. Truth is the alchemy which dissolves Maya & gets you the freedom you need & deserve. Karma is the eternal assertion of human freedom. If we can bring ourselves down with bad Karma surely we can go up too with good Karma. Faith & effort will get you there to your final destination.

DESIGNERS DREAM - FLAGS & FLYING TECHNOLOGY
 

The method of hoisting and flying flags is as old as 5000 years. It has not changed at all since Lord Krishna started to unfurl his crude flags in the Golden Age representing PEACE. White rectangular pieces of cloth were tied to sticks and fixed on their palace roof tops. He did not go to war with anyone, because back then there was just ONE kingdom of Lakshmi & Narayan and ONE Diety religion. War happens between two kingdoms.
 
In the present times we have another example of maroon colored PEACE flags of Confluence Age, being  flown high in Madhuban at Mt Abu by the Brahma Kumari spiritual organization.

These global flags come in multi colors representing Nations, Territories, States, Provinces. We also have flags for different events, sports, religions, & celebrations. They hang lifeless from high poles of steel, wood or bamboo. The age old design consists of a small pulley mounted at the top of the poles and a double rope to take the piece of cloth up to hoist it and then bring it down when not required usually at sun set.

RE-ENGINEERING THE FLAG & ITS FLYING ART.
 
It is proposed to re-engineer this archaic design as a modified WIND SOCK to take in the low speed winds and fly horizontally to display it true colors, design and pride instead of hanging lifelessly from pole tops.

It is suggested to fabricate a flattish Wind Sock instead of the conventional round one. If you hammer in the round one it would become flattish, more of vertical parabola or ellipse. A rounded rectangle approximately 4 inches wide and the height depending upon the height of the flag, would complete the description. Now we will need two pieces of cloth with their designs but in mirror images this time, to make one hollow flag by stitching up at the top and bottom only. The vertical sides of the new flag will be kept open to allow the air/wind to pass through. The vertical ellipse would be reinforced with wire rods or other suitable materials to give and retain its shape. This shape will extend into 1/4 Th of the flag horizontally, with slight taper as it is done on every wind sock to allow the winds to blow into the flag. The balance 3/4 Th of the flag will drop down as usual.

The pole design too has to modified slightly to accommodate the new wind sock flag. The top portion of the round pole must be flattened in to allow the wind into the flag. Additionally ball bearing arrangement must be built into the design of the poles to allow 360 degrees rotation of the flattish wind sock flags.

USE OF COMPRESSED AIR TO FLY FLAGS FULLY
 
During the Bejing Olympics the national flags of all countries were very intelligently kept flying horizontal at all times with the help of compressed air blowing through the holes in the tubular poles on which single piece cloth flags were mounted. It was a costly affair and totally indoors.

Mini table top models of such flat wind sock flags would be a huge tourist attraction & big business in every country.

Why travel the conventional way, expensive, fast, hurried, full of hassels, and arrive at your destination, tired, behind time or ahead of your clock time ? 

The other way to travel is to CRUISE along in the air just like you criuse on the ocean waters in a gigantic ship. You guessed it right, I am hinting at the Air Ship. A helium filled gigantic air ship with modern technology to compress the gas at the press of a button to bring down the air ship on land, load her up, and to expand the helium gas for lift off and criuse away. 

The chambers for the passengers and crew would be totally seperate from the helium chambes, which could be located on the upper decks. The lower decks would house all the liveable quarters for the passengers, crew and their ammenities required for long travel times. 

If we can build and fly Dream liners weighing thousands of tonnes then slow moving feather light Air ships is a sure possibility too. 

It is proposed to accend to the height, just below the clouds to take advantage of the high winds in this region to move forward towards our destination. It is further suggested to take the help of the weather network to plan the flights / cruises so that we could take the maximum benefit from the freely blowing winds at no cost to us. 

Since the surface area of our Air ship is bound to be pretty large one, we must additionally plan for Solar power for on board needs & useage. 

Because the planet Earth is rotating in one particular direction - from west to east we must invariably plan for travel in the opposite direction and look for the winds which move from east to west to get additional advantage of the relative speeds: the Earth at 1000 km/hr. in one direction and the Air ship at maximum of 70km/hr in the other direction. We will get to our destination much faster and cheaper this way. I do realise that the power of gravity is always pushing us in the wrong direction, but at the cloud level its effect is mitigated to a large extent.

How we cut down our forests determines the probability of forest fires & their scale? You can have your CAKE and eat it too only if you have a fool proof plan. It all boils down to having your forest for eternity and zero / minimum forest fires during summers specially. 

NO THOUGHT TO PLANS

Big companies buy up gigantic pieces of prime forests and then leave it up the small time forest Rangers & supervisors to cut down trees, haul them up into large trucks, & transport the cut logs to the point of sale/auction. The average level of intelligence yields average results.

THE AVERAGE PLAN

Start from one end which happens to be closest to the main road and proceed to the other end if luck is on your side. Unfortunately, you never get to see the other end of the forest. Three or four seasons, all goes well and then suddenly there is a forest fire which burns down the whole forest to the ground.  

Big companies do not loose much in this deal because they had the forest insured against such a predictable calamity. The big losers are the Insurance companies and the common public who had their homes in the vicinity of this forest.

Recently we experienced such a loss of the whole township in Alberta Canada. Every year we hear & see hundreds of forest fires in rich states of California & other cities.

INTELLIGENT MASTER PLAN FOR LOGGING PATTERN  

It is a common sense approach to logging patterns which makes the total scheme of devouring the forest last for a long time till it is completely finished. No loss plan/approach.

MULTI PRONG ATTACK

If I owned a forest whose dimensions were 10 km X 10 km square, then the logging pattern would be as follows. Five gangs of men & equipment would start cutting down trees on one side of the square and another set of five gangs of men and equipment operate on the adjacent side of square. Each gang would be positioned at a distance of ONE km from the other gang. Thus we would be covering Five km of forest on each side of the square.

As the two sets of gang’s approach inwards towards each other in straight WIDE ROWS, we will be dividing our forest into beautiful manageable grids of one km X one km.  In the very first season we would be achieving 25 grids of one km square, each separated from the other by at least 100-meter-wide alley / space / road. These very pathways / roads will allow us an easy access right into the interior of our forest for fire fighting equipment if needed in future and minimize the damage by containing the fire to one such square/grid. The 100-meter-wide space between two plots of forest trees will be our added advantage in case of fire in one plot, even with high winds blowing the hot cinders away.  

BORROWING FROM COAL MINING TECHNOLOGY.

I have worked in under ground and open cast coal mines and it is no shame to borrow some of their ideas for the benefit of our forests. Once the coal has been evacuated from an under ground mine, it is mandatory to fill up the gap left behind, with sand. This process is called SAND STOWING.  Water and sand are mixed together and pumped into the mine to achieve the end result. In the same way we can pump up sand & water on to the 100-meter-wide pathways in our forest grids to achieve a fire proof alley between two plots of trees to prevent the fire from spreading from one plot to the other in case of fire and high winds. If my forest is full of costly teak trees then the additional cost of sand covering is worth it. The return on investment is very attractive.  

Once the complete forest is divided up into 0ne hundred, neat smaller squares of one km X one km, then and then only we can take a sigh of relief. Now we go ahead with logging pattern of widening the existing pathways and gradually reducing the forest squares to 0.75 km X 0.75 km. This strategy ensures that our forest will last us for a long time with minimum chance of burning down.

FORESTS ON HILLY TERRAIN

Different strategy is needed for a hilly terrain forest. Trees tend to fall/roll down from a higher level towards the valley of the terrain. Here we have to make similar pathways, but this time, RADIALLY from top to bottom to achieve the no loss / minimum loss result.

POLLUTING OUR RE- SOURCES:

We took our rivers for granted and misused them for dumping our domestic and industrial wastes. As a result of our carelessness the once pure river of Ganga has now become an eye sore and a national problem. This story has been repeated with almost all of our rivers.

We draw our raw water from these polluted rivers to treat it and make it fit for drinking. We also divert most of the water from these rivers to our dry lands for the purpose of irrigation. If the raw water is contaminated with lead, arsenic, mercury and other toxic elements the final products of potable water and food grains made from this water will be contaminated too. – Go figure it for yourself.

CLEANING UP THE POLLUTION:

The treatment of drinking water is a lengthy and costly process. The governments and big companies only, can spare the scarce capital for such large scale water treatment plants.  

Small towns are left out of this loop and suffer a great deal on this account with make shift arrangements. Poor villages have no option at all, but to dig wells for their consumption of clean drinking water if they are lucky to have a high water table below their lands.

WASTE CREATES SHORTAGE:

In short, clean drinking water is a scarce commodity now a days. So much in short supply that we have started bottling it in unhealthy plastic bottles and selling it at a price which is becoming beyond the reach of the common man.

On the other hand, our plumbing hardware designs and technology is so very out dated that we have no choice left but to flush our toilets with this clean drinking water too and pay the price of buying expensive water to drink. How can such an advanced society afford to over look this aspect?

 VICTIM OF OUR CIRCUMSTANCES:   

Majority of the public is in a big dilemma to go for the new toilets which use ultra low water amounts of water to flush or hang on to the old three / four-gallon water flushing toilets and off set the cost of not replacing them with high water bills every month. They choose the status quo and suffer with ever rising costs of clean water which is definitely becoming a scarce commodity.

SIMPLE SOLUTION TO THE COMPLEX PROBLEM:

Use every drop of water three times before it is discarded into the sewage drains. Install portable plastic urinals in every home between the wash basins and the toilets. Divert the outlet of the wash basins into the urinals and the outlet of the urinals into the cistern tanks of the toilets. There are multiple bath rooms in every home, hence the emphases on plurals. These minor modifications can be done locally at very low costs, but the resultant savings will add up to huge numbers.

The new mantra is Pee, wash hands, & store up for flushing. Pee, wash hands, and store up.  Sacrifices have to be made, the earlier the better.

TOP PRIORITY FOR PUBLIC TOILETS:

In public toilets the same arrangement of locating the wash basins at an elevated level, next lower level the urinals and finally at lowest levels the toilets and interconnecting them for a smooth flow, will work out to be extremely economical and successful. It is a win – win solution.

  

GREY WATER COLLECTION AND REUSE:

It is additionally suggested to collect all the grey water from the kitchen and bath houses in a large plastic container with filtering facility for solids and reuse it for flushing, gardening, floor washing, car washing or other purposes. When this grey water is left overnight undisturbed the sediments will settle down and clear water can be pumped up with the help of a small Tulu pump. We are in a do or die situation, therefore choose consciously to CHANGE otherwise PERISH.
